Carbon Filter

I'm not familiar with carbon filters, I've had my mini carbon for probably little over a month, I was just wondering will a carbon filter remove water conditioner?

I don't think it will, tho i just had filter cartridges with carbon in it and unless carbon filter's are something completely different.

carbon just filter's out the impurity's in ur water and make's it clearer..i really hope someone else will drop by here with a bit more knowledge then me and explain to u cause i too am curious as to what carbon does exactely.

Sorry I didn't explain properly, I too have a sponge filter with carbon in it. lol

Carbon's won't remove water conditioner, but it WILL remove medications. So if you have a sick fish and are using medications, you need to remove the carbon before. you can put it back later.

For the most part, activated carbon filters remove chemicals that cause odor and discoloration from the water. They can also interact with certain medications, so it's a good idea to remove the carbon before adding any medications to your tank.

Eventually they get full. If you notice any odor or yellowing of the water, it's time to replace them. And you still need to periodically do water changes. They aren't a substitute for changing your water.

They shouldn't have any impact on the water conditioner, at least not that I'm aware of.

Ok thanks =) another question, do I really need the carbon? by this I mean if I take the carbon out or buy a new ordinary sponge would this be OK?
