New Betta Owner - Food Question

Hi guys, me and my girlfriend both just got new Betta fish last week. We got two 2.5 gallon tanks, and plants, water conditioner etc.

My question was about how much they can eat. Iggy is still adjusting and doesn't trust us enough to come to the top of the water to eat. However, Chuck sees my fingers and will rise to the top of the water to eat his food. I have some Aqueon Betta Food pellets, each one is about the size of the head of a pin, maybe a bit smaller. How much food is too much? And will they keep eating when it isn't safe for them to do so?

They're very pretty! I feed my males 5 pellets a day (3 in the morning, 2 at night). I also fast them (not feed them) Fridays because it's good for their digestive systems.

I feed my bettas 4 pellets a day (my betta in my 10 gallon tank tends to eat a little bit of the food that his tank mates eat). I skip feeding everybody on Mondays

Very pretty betta.

I feed my betta several times a day- so he probably gets 7-8 pellets altogether because he misses some that fall to the bottom of the tank. I have him fast for one day out of the week so as to not overfeed, though looking at the replies above I am overfeeding him. I will probably reduce the number of pellets I give him and reduce to 4-5 a day.

My husband and I are new to betta, and fish as a whole, and I'm learning so much on this forum.

Ok great, i've been giving them about 6 - 8 per day, so i'll probably cut them down to 5-6 a day. And I'll fast them on Friday...it rhymes so i'll remember that. ^_^

5-6 is a little too much. I would go with 4-5. By the way LOVE the fishies!
