Haha that's awesome, you have a Tifa too!

Mine is a male... we bought him as a female and once he grew a bit we realized he was a dude. My boyfriend and I have yet to rename him after another final fantasy character. ;)

No, I didn't make the tank. It was a sale buy at our local fish store that came with the stand. The dividers were made from plexi glass, which we had cut to size at Lowe's and then sanded down the edges. We drilled 1/4 inch holes spread across each divider for water flow and used clear suction cups (which we found in sign-hanging kits at Staples) to hold the dividers in place. To help keep the water moving, I placed an airstone on the end opposite the filter. The room that the tank is in stays at a near constant 77-78F, so I don't have to worry too much about temperature differences between the sections.
The project was inspired by this tank: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wwuMCv8txkg

The whole project was pretty affordable, although I can't remember the exact costs of it, all said and done. I was a little intimidated at first, because I had never used plexi glass in a project before, but it was pretty easy to do, and I'd do it again for future tanks in a heartbeat.
