Question heater

can a 5 gallon heater heat up a ten gallon tank?
My ten gallon heater died of old age like a week ago and the temperature is getting too low for comfort in the tank. All i have is an extra five gallon tank heater, so I'm wondering if it will make a difference or if its a waste of time trying. <-- dont ask lol.

I'd try it until you can get something better; it'll heat the area close to the heater at least.

The temperature might fluctuate too much between day/night with a tiny heater. I'd take half the water out of the tank until you get a bigger heater, just to be safe.

No, it won't do a proper job.

Why would they label it as a 5 gallon heater if it worked on tanks up to 10 gallons?
