to put 2 Tetra 50w Submersible heaters (one on either side of a tank) in a ~ 1.5 or so gallon Kritter keeper? I don't know why but the temperature is always at 74-75 and Lyre seems really lethargic, it also feels colder than the h2o of my other tanks.

Just wanted to check first. ASAP answers would be REALLY appreciated because he is already not well and I am trying my best to save him.

if not I might try a heat producing type light bulb over him to see if that helps the temp. without it fluctuating too much.

sorry guys disregard this post :( I went to go see if he was ok again and it looks like he is dead :( he isn't moving and when I went to go touch him he didn't move at all.

actually, this question might help me when I am setting up my 2.5 g's, so if anyone has any thoughts, I'd love input.

Thanks for the reply, but I meant two if it wasn't holding the heat in. Actually I am not going to use my KK anymore cus it holds a gallon less water than my 2.5's and got another 2.5 instead. so we'll see how the heat from the tetra50w holds in a glass tank.

I have the same problem with the Tetra heaters I purchased yesterday. The instructions claims it takes up to 24 hours to regulate. I decided to use different heaters.

Which ones are you using NIB Betta?

if it takes 24 hrs, hopefully it'll be fine after, or maybe I bought a faulty one, cus I believe it WAS in there running for at least 24 hrs.

Thanks dramaqueen, I am glad I had him during the time I did. I think he finally ran out of lives to spend, I called the poor boy a cat with 9 lives he was always getting himself into trouble.

I don't think it would work. I have the heater and I have the same problem only at night but I think it's better than the other heater I had that I had to plug and unplug and sometimes the water was over 82 degrees.
Anyway, I don't think it will work bc the the Tetra has a thermostat that shuts off when the heater so even if you had 2 heaters, I think, they would do the same as one.

I didnt read anything about thermometres so I would say buy a couple of those they cost around a dollar from pet stores and see whats going on instead of judging by touch just to be doubley sure :)
