Live plants help

Hey guys. I have a split 5 gallon eclipse aquarium. It has live plants in it. While cleaning it I noticed some brown on one side of the tank on the amazon sword. It is filtered and the light is a ge energy smart cool natural light flouresent bulb. It is a 10 watt=40 watt bulb. Ive enclosed a pic of the plant and the bulb I am using. What can I do to help the plant? I use florapride with my water changes but is there anything else I should use?? Thanks.

Just clip off that entire stem as close as you can to the root base. Pruning promotes new growth.

you need to fertilize your plant with Aqua plant food fizz tabs. plant's can't live of of just water and fish poop. i use "Plant care solutions" plant food tabs. 1 pellet will feed up to 5 plants in a 50 square inch area for up to 2 months. it says on the box that they promote Greener healthier plants in just 2 months.
Cost about $2.50 for 24 tabs

Agree with hermitpaws. Just be aware that no leaf with a brown tip will ever come back... it does need to be pruned regardless of fertilization/food.

Agree with hermitpaws. I use Flourish root tabs. Many times with amazon swords when you first get them they will lose many of their leaves since they are usually grown partially submerged in the water. So when they are fully submerged they lose their leaves, but they grow back :) What plant fertilizer are you using? And how often?

I am using Florapride. Its instructions say to sue 2 teaspoons with monthly or with each water change. Should I use more? I need to get the plant tabs also.

Should people use Co2 tabs + Water treatment? I just use API All in one plantfood 5ml per 10 gallons once a week...

I never heard of Florapride. Most plant fertilizers are needed once weekly. It looks to be diluted also... I recommend Nutrafin Plant Gro or Flourish Seachem Comprehensive. Get some root tabs and get the nutrient issue fixed and your plants should flourish :)
