off setting or profiting from the hobby

Hey guys! I currently have a 5g tank and 1 awesome crowntail! I really enjoy this whole fish keeping thing so far! I'm even considering expanding on it. however out of curiosity does anyone know of any ways to offset the costs? I know its not a super expensive hobby but aquariums and the electricity to maintain them. but in a world of rising costs, im always looking for a way to save a little or even make a little back. I know you could breed bettas, but is there anything else?

Well I can say you could lose lots of money breeding betta as well. It is time consuming and can be very expensive. One way to save money is keep a close eye on the internet classifieds like craigslist ect. and find good deals on tanks and equipment secondhand.

Get involved in an aquarium club so you can trade/sell between the members. That way you know your fish are going to good homes and you get quality fish/accessories for wholesale price. :) But don't breed bettas, as you will lose money. Breed something like shrimp or livebearers.
