thanks guys, ill go ahead and pick up a heater tomorrow.
The thermometer in the tank is usually in the "safe" zone. I dont much fluctuations in temp. But I'll put in a heater for extra security.

Hey guys, what type of heater do you suggest?

I was looking at the Marineland 50watt heater on Bigalsonline.

What size is your tank? About ten gallons right?

That heater should work great. All I recommend is getting a heater that is adjustable and submersible (which I think all marineland heaters are).

tank is 11.4 I believe.
I read a thread about the Marineland heater blowing up in a guys tank on another forum. So I'm a little worried now.

I have a Marineland stealth visitherm and have had no problem with it.

Went shopping today, picked up a heater, 5 Amano shrimp, 4 Otos, and 2 golden apple snails.

Not even 5 hours in and one Oto dies. Do you guys think it was weak or sick? I feel sad looking at an Oto that hasn't even been living in my tank for more than 24hrs.

The snails prove to be unusual already, as they leave a slime trail at the bottom of the tank.

Otos have been known to have a high death rate.
