Dividing a tank with glass divider?

If you were to use glass as your divider would you need to have a small filter and heater for each side? Say.....10 gallon tank divided in two. I know you would have to heavily plant between.

If you were going to use glass, I'd get plexi glass (its a kinda see through plastic style glass) and drill holes in it and silicone it down the middle. You could place the filter so it flows right down the middle of the divider (thats what I did) and place the heater on the opposite end. As long as you have the holes you can do just one heater/filter.
