Today when doing water changes I finally got the lights put back on my 10 gallon tanks (I'd just been using room light since I moved them.. just out of laziness). Well I was shocked to find Merlin has a huge mass on his head. He looks like an oranda goldfish. The scales on his head are pine coned. The rest of him looks perfectly fine, his activity is also normal.
I don't know what it is. I'd checked him every day but I guess since the tank wasn't properly lighted I couldn't see this mass growing (since Merlin's head is black and hard to see on a good day).
Right now hes in my 5 gallon hospital tank with a double dose of Jungle Fungus Clear. I figured antibacterials can't hurt until I can diagnose what his issue is. Since I just lost Mr. Pink I decided I didn't want to try the whole aquarium salt thing but just go straight to meds. He responded really well to the JFC when he had popeye.
I tried getting some pictures but again since Merlin's head is black I can't get a detailed picture, I spent 20 minutes taking picture after picture and all of them make him look either blurry or don't show the mass.
I googled tumors but really couldn't find anything definite to say what could be causing it or how to treat it. I feel bad for the little guy, first fin rot, then pop eye, now this. I'm just praying its not Fish TB, I don't want it to affect the rest of my fish.
