Question unkown growth

I woke up today to find my betta has a ballpoint pin sized white growth. im afraid its a disease but i forgot which one O_O.
i want to stop this before it gets out of hand lucky i caught it ^_^

i circled the spot with black its not a very good picture but its alittle bigger than that but no larger than a ballpoint on a pen

Water Water Every Where But Not A Drop To Drink

the above was a post i sent but i wanted a second opinion

i have a 2.5 gallon tank with a apple snail and a whisper 3i filter
i use amqul+ and novaqual+
my aged tap water specs are

pH:7.0
total alkalinity 120
total hardness 25
nitrite nitrate: 0, 0

my water parameters have been low lately and are as such as of last night

pH:6.0/6.4 (ppm)
Ammonia:0
water temp 78

i did a water change this morning
my betta is happy swiming and eats fine

also i have rarely seen him go under my filter where the intake sucks his fin up but only a little im afraid he might have injured his fin and thats why this happend
if you could identify the white growth i would be thankful

It could possibly Ich, which shows on your betta as white dots that look like grains of salt. Ich is a parasite, but you can drive it away if you do a water change(which you already did) raise the water temp and add aquarium salt. However, your betta may act fine now, but if the white growth is ich, more white dots will be appearing and he will dart around the tank rubbing against things to try to dislodge them.

First thing that comes to mind is ich.
It could come back, so.... aquarium salt would be a good idea.
Yep, water changes with a teaspoon of aquarium salt per gallon for ten days (and keep continuing the water changes) until it goes away. I believe ich is caused by poor water conditions...?

that would explain the reason he got it i cant raise my pH you can read here http://forum.marinedepot.com/Topic110055-7-1.aspx where i was trying to fix the issue i think an ornament (i removed this morning) was the cause of my pH im not sure tho

so ill buy some salt today and do another water change today i suppose

what about filters? does it need to be changed soon now that this has happend
should i scrub my ornaments down too

Yes, scrub everything down well, and soak the ornaments in vinegar- this will speed up recovery. Also rinse the tank with vinegar if you can, that would help too. You don't have to change the filter everyday... I would just rinse it out daily, along with the tank and ornaments. (This is what I would do, I don't have any filters in my 2.5 gallons.)

And make sure it's aquarium salt, not just table salt.

yea iodine table salt not good for a tank lol ill buy aquarium salt ;)
what about my gravel do i leave it in and just clean the surface of it or do i need to syphon deep , Or should i remove the gravel and rinse it out (thats not good for my bacteria though is it)

and would the cup that i got my fish in be acceptable to use while i do this

this sounds stressful to my fish lmao

.... my snail should i do something with him too

Prepare some water beforehand, if you can.
Put the gravel in a collander and rinse it out with boiling water. Fresh water will do him no harm.
I would use a regular cup (not the one he came in) to house him while you are cleaning his tank.

Put your snail in a cup too, filled with aquarium water. Then when you're done the water change, pick him up and dunk him in.

Just try to get the new water around the temperature of your old water, if you can, so there will be less shock for the betta and the snail.

I'm not really sure about the slimy coating...

With mild cases of ich that resolve on their own like that I don't add anything to the tank or raise the temp, but I will make water change with deep gravel vacuum to manually remove the parasite daily for at least 4-5 days.
