Advice for trying a new med

Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

Our betta had a large red open sores near his face last week. I immediately started treating him with tetracycline and today is Day 3 of his treatment.

Today, however, he looks as though he has Ich. His face and neck are spotted gray and he looks just terrible. Very muted in color. He is in good spirits and is eating. My question is can I now treat him for Ich despite just treating him for red sores? I don't want to overwhelm him with meds, obviously, but boy does he look bad.

He is in a 2.5 g tank, with a heater, with a filter. All of the specs you would recommend. We change his water frequently so we're kind of surprised he's not well.

I'd try warming up his water to 80-82F and adding aquarium salt to his tank. 1/2 teaspoon per gallon.
