Question algae problems

"Towel" is in a 2.5 gallon "mini bow" tank with a small hydor 7.5 watt heater (on a rheostat "dimmer switch to adjust the wattage)

I am having a heck of a time keeping the algae out.

I purchased "tetra algae control" and i am dot sure of the dosage... I think it says 1 drop per gallon.... So I added 2 drops

replaced the filter, took out the plants and washed them and lightly vacuumed the gravel.... and now 3 days later the algae is back.

How many drops should I use of the tetra algae control.... (btw the tanks temp is between 79 & 83)

Thanks

A 2.5 with algae problems?
How often are you making 100% water changes? You should at least be doing 1 a week.
I've never had problems with algae.
I would suggest you take everything apart and wash throughly. Get that gravel very clean before you put it back in the tank and keep the tank out of the sun.

Is it just green spots here and there or is it green sheets that grow across everything? and can you post a pic?

It is sheets that grow across everything.
I did a full clean of the aquarium.....
The same thing use to happen to my little 1 gallon w/under gravel air filter....
The new 2.5 gallon is less than a month old..... and is located in my bathroom... so there really is no sunlight

on a side note: I have a 10 gallon aquarium that I have had for well over 20 years and it never got algae...... it has my tiger barbs in it.

If it is growing is sheets it could be blue green algae and not really an algae but a bacteria called Cyanobacteria, look that up (google it) and see if it fits what you have.
