I believe what you are referring to is actually called agnostic. Agnostic means you believe in the existence of something, but you don't know what it is or you believe that humans cannot fully know what it is. Atheists don't believe in a deity of any sort or definition. A- means without and theism is referring to the believe in a god or gods.
As for bettism, I'd say definitely a philosophy. To live one's life to the fullest, love everyday, wiggle around for treats, and don't take crap from anyone...even yourself in a mirror ;)
Very true. I am technically atheist, but I find that people aren't as quick to judge or to dismiss if you say agnostic. I was surprised to find even my best friend for over 15 years taken aback when she prodded me into telling her my lack of religious beliefs. I think, in the end, it only matters whether or not you are a good person and happy inside. =)
hehe, I'd be like to my bettas, "O great one, be appeased by this tasty bloodworm and bless me with another bubble nest!" It always brightens up my day to see a huge new bubble nest and I hate water changes because it means I have to destroy all their hard work.
I enjoyed reading what you said in another thread, Jakr, about how bettas have these two sides to them...the fighting side and the side that shows their beauty/personality. Kind of like how cats are and they've been worshipped (though I think some cat owners still do worship them).
