Leaving Home for 3 or more weeks WHAT DO

Tomorrow I'm leaving home to go to Louisiana for 3 or more weeks. My dad will be home, but he won't want to take care of my betta fish. Will my fish be alright left alone for that long or should i ask a friend to look after him while i'm gone?

IMO I think you should ask a friend.

Your fish will need water changes and some limited feeding over such a long period of time. Fish can go for very long periods of time without eating, but even if they do not eat, they will still produce ammonia.

It would be a good idea to write up detailed instructions for your friend--be sure to discuss that the new water must be conditioned and the same temperature as the old, that the fish must be slowly acclimated to the new water. When I asked my mother to take care of my fish, I had her practice feeding and changing the water while I was there to help/oversee her, just to make sure she did it right, this gave both her and me some confidence.

Also, people who don't usually take care of fish tend to go a little nuts food-wise. I would pre-package the correct amount of food in little plastic baggies so that you are sure your friend doesn't overfeed. Feeding less often than you would normally may be prudent, as it will reduce the waste your fish produces.

Thanks thanks. I went ahead and left him with my boyfriend, and he's got some fish too so he's not new to water changes and food amount.
Hope my fishie stays alive till I get back! XD

Yeah, def. too long for a fish to go without food. Good decision to leave him with someone.

If not a friend, then some pet stores do board fish.

Hello! New member here!
How long can a betta go without food?
I was wondering if I could leave my betta alone for a week if I changed it's water and fed it before I leave?
I'm pretty sure going away for a weekend would be fine but is a week ok?
If I was going to be gone for 2 weeks I would most definately ask my friend to take care of my betta.

I've heard that those feeder cubes can mess up your water.
