Although. My rats aren't that huge. My largest weighs in at about 1.6 lb.

Also, domestic rats now-a-days typically live about 2 years. That's it. I know that when rats were first domesticated, they lived MUCH longer, about 4 years, and even now, in the UK where the best rat breeders are, there are SOME lines that consistently live to 4 years. However, in North America, because of bad breeding and commercial pet stores' OBSESSION with "rare" colours, your typical rat lives only 2 years (decades of inbreeding, and breeding for ONLY colours or marking will do that...)

If your boyfriend's rat was MASSIVE and lived 6 years, I'd guess it was an African Giant Pouched rat, or Gambian Pouched rat. Those aren't found where I live, but I've heard of people in the States owning them.

As for your boys Homer and Charlie... can't wait to see pics! And gosh, I'm hoping my boys will live that long. However, considering their unknown pedigree and their already declining health... I doubt it. *sigh*

I was in 5th grade when I got them, and Charlie died at the beginning of my 8th grade year... maybe more towards 3 years. hm. They were the best though.

^_^ Three years is still amazing! I know a few people who've had rats live past 36 months (if Spook or Marley reach that age, I'd literally throw a huge party). I've even (virtually) met someone who's rat was 42 months when it finally passed on (painlessly and in its sleep).

FIRST UP, this cat called Fuzzy. I don like him T-T He does... strange things to my stuffed animals. And he's neutered, too, so I'm not sure WHY he does it.


Shaddow Cat;; MY BABY. I LOVE this cat... when he's not meowing to be let outside, when he know PERFECTLY well that he's not allowed to ever since those raccoons moved in!




My other kitty, Freckles! She's not "my baby" because she would kick my butt if I ever called her that xD PIC SPAM FOR HER.

First up, Flash, my Stepdad's ball python. I don't really have a problem with him, I don't love him, but I resent the fact that my stepdad is trying to force him on me, causing me to not like him as much.
