Talking hi i am a new-bee to bettas

Hi . I am new to this forum, but have read on this website for weeks now have finnally registered. I am planning on getting a Betta towards the end of July. I would get it sooner but I am moving to another house . I have a 2.5 gallon tank, gravel,a couple of plants, and a filter. I plan on getting more plants,a cave, net, and a heater. Anything else I need to buy? (Not anyting too expensive ) thanks

You'll need a thermometer. I also suggest you get a liquid test kit so you can cycle your tank. If you don't cycle you'll have to do weekly 100% changes.

Its also probably good if you have some aquarium salt on hand in case of sickness, that will help with most common sicknesses, as will extremely clean water.

Don't forget your water conditioner, a gravel vac, and a bucket.

A dip cup is useful for water chages as long as you have something to put over it so the fish doesn't jump out. that's only if you decide to toss the cup you get him in though. =P I still use Genie's original cup for his waterchanges. =]

Oh and I had a soft plastic plant. It tore my betta's fins. >=[ I'm SO MAD about that! I've learned never to trust plastic. It's silk and live all the way for me now. So just be careful and if your betta's fins rip then take the plastic plants out. =]

Good luck! =]
