I was in a small town the other day and popped into a mom'n'pop store just to see what they had. There was a sad looking DTCT (supposedly) in a display vase as a "permenant resident". He was sick looking, thin, bloaty ... and I would have had to pay $22 for him. The femmes were all male PKs. I spotted my boy and just took him and we went on our merry way. The poor guy then survived me falling into a shallow river on our way home. he was securely packed in my bag which also got soaking wet along with my jeans ... ahhh summer!
So onto him .... he's a red marble butterfly. Definitely a male PK, poor lad though. He's pretty thin and has a badly dipped spine. his head is "sharp" looking. He also has a deformed swimbladder, I think, but he swims fine and is VERY interested in Persephone, my little orange gal. i'll put pics up of him (and her) when he's all adjusted.
I think I'll name him Jelly Roll ... just because.
So does anyone else have bettas with deformed spines? what should I watch out for if there are any health issues?
