Got a new betta!

I was in a small town the other day and popped into a mom'n'pop store just to see what they had. There was a sad looking DTCT (supposedly) in a display vase as a "permenant resident". He was sick looking, thin, bloaty ... and I would have had to pay $22 for him. The femmes were all male PKs. I spotted my boy and just took him and we went on our merry way. The poor guy then survived me falling into a shallow river on our way home. he was securely packed in my bag which also got soaking wet along with my jeans ... ahhh summer!

So onto him .... he's a red marble butterfly. Definitely a male PK, poor lad though. He's pretty thin and has a badly dipped spine. his head is "sharp" looking. He also has a deformed swimbladder, I think, but he swims fine and is VERY interested in Persephone, my little orange gal. i'll put pics up of him (and her) when he's all adjusted.

I think I'll name him Jelly Roll ... just because.

So does anyone else have bettas with deformed spines? what should I watch out for if there are any health issues?

Can't help with your question tho. Hopefully someone will be able to.

Good luck with Jelly Roll (cute name)

I've been doing a little researching and apparently bent spines arent anything to worry about too much *whew*. JR is doing so well right now, eating and swimming and being a little brat, lol!
