I had an earlier post but wanted to consolidate all that's transpired in the past 11 days. This all began when Ted freaked out during a regular weekly water change.
First he would only eat one pellet at a feeding because he would become fearful and hide.
After a few days of that he then became lethargic. He stopped eating completely at about day 5 or 6. There has been no bloating (until yesterday), no clenched fins, no fin rot, no difficulty in swimming although I have reduced the amount of water in his tank so he can reach the surface easier. Mostly he lays on the top leaf of his plant. He pants and rushes to the surface for a gulp of air from time to time.
Stable water temp 80 degrees. 50 or 100% daily water changes with aquarium salt up until yesterday when I began treatment for internal parasites (Jungle IP Guard) as a somewhat last ditch effort. There have been no changes to his water which is filtered (not using one that removes beneficial minerals). Nothing else notable except when he freaked at his water change.
I soaked some pellets in garlic juice and have been trying those with no luck. Yesterday I noticed he looked bloated from the sides looking down on him.
I've left his tank covered to reduce stress. He seems to want to try but I'm feeling though this has become a death watch. Photos below.
