Well I don't have experience with it...but 2.5 gallons is ok for a betta...not sure about the filter size compaired to the tank though...if it's a soft filter it's better but if it's a strong one I would remove it...

I have a similar one that is the same brand, same size: http://www.bigalsonline.com/BigAlsUS...paquariumblack

I have 3 of them and I think they are great! I really like them. The only possible downside is that the filter is strong. Also, you may want to switch bulbs if you find the one that comes with it it too hot/heats the water too much.

Side note: Shop around because they vary quite a bit in price. I paid $29.99 for the first one a few months ago and then waited for a sale and got my other two for $22.00.

Personally I prefer this design: http://www.fosterandsmithaquatics.com/product/prod_display.cfm?c=3578+3730+3848&pcatid=3848 this tank is a few dollars more, but it's a half gallon larger, comes with a good fluorescent light ideal for growing low light plants, an effective and extremely quiet biowheel filter that is easily baffled, and it's acrylic rather than glass which means that it's lighter and more durable. I've dropped this thing on the tile floor of my kitchen and it was fine, just make sure you only use algae scrubbers meant for acrylic tanks in order to prevent scratches. The shape of it is also ideal since it's longer than it is tall--and the picture shows how nicely the 25 watt hydor theo fits this tank. :)

Why do you want to spend $30.00 for that 2 1/2 gal. tank when, for the same price, you can get a Tetra 5 gal. kit at Wal-Mart? It comes with the glass tank, top, light & filter.

They also sell minibows at WallyWorld, if you're so inclined. Back when I had super amounts of bettas, they were almost all in the 2.5 Minibows. I didn't use the filters though, too strong for most bettas. You can get a really nice sponge filter for cheapsies that puts out just enough flow that I like to supplement with. The 2.5 seemed like the best option as they were small enough that I could have several lined up on my bookshelf, but they were big enough to add lots of plants and hidey spots to make the boys happy! I also had a couple 5gals and their inhabitants were very happy =)

That seems over priced to me. Like the others have suggested, check Walmart.
