Parasites??

I have had my betta fish, swimmy, for almost 3 weeks. Ever since I have owned him, he eats like a pig, swims around and acts normal except he's constantly scraping himself on tank walls, tank decorations, or anything he can rub up against. I inspected him all over and couldn't see anything until this evening I noticed a small, white, stringy thing hanging from his gills. I was wondering if this was an anchor worm and if not if it would be another type of parasite? What would cure this? I change his water 100% once a week since he is in a 1.5 gallon aquarium. I make sure that the water he is in is the same temperature as the new aquarium water. I also use aquarium salt.

Any help or suggestions are much appreciated!!

He is much better now. I gave him some parasite clear by jungle and the thing just fell off. He had some other parasites too that I did not know about but they came off as well. Thank you for asking about him! :)
