glass surfing

What is glass surfing and how do you prevent it or get rid of the behavior if your fish already has it?

Glass surfing is when your betta swims parallel to the glass non stop, almost like he is pacing. I've heard that people can stop it by putting something like a plant, along one or two walls and have gotten their bettas to stop, but apparently it is difficult to stop.

Glass surfing is a symptom of boredom, what you can do is try re -arranging your bettas tank or add new things, such as ornaments, etc also adding a plant to the place where the betta does the most glass surfing can help.

If your tank is small around 2.5 gallons or less then I would strongly advise you upgrade to a larger tank as fish can feel confined which is often why they act neurotically
