I decided to finally register, instead of just poke through here and sneak on by. ;) I've had enough of wanting to make comments, having to hold back!
We finally allowed our kids to pick out a fish last weekend, knowing full well that care is pretty much going to be MY responsibility... our son is almost 10, but away a lot; our daughter is only 4. *sigh* XD
They decided on a betta, so after getting things settled around the house, I tried to pick out some relatively healthy-looking boys and let them decide between those. Our new boy is a gorgeous blue/red CT, with lots of oddities. He's been LOVING his new space, about 1.5-2g hex with two plants and a cave. ^_^ (and light and heater, yadda yadda, no filter; I'm dealing with changes)
I hadn't kept fish in over a decade, but I'm re-hooked again already, and annoying my husband to no end. Just today I saw a beautiful boy I'd love to take home and OOH and AAH over. From what I could see (I'm short, he was on a top shelf, and I wasn't going to risk shaking him around just for a look) he's a white iridescent with a few small black marblespots, and maybe a bit of DT in him as his fin has a nice 'dent' right in the center. I behaved. (still sulking, admittedly. ;) )
We need more space in the house. THAT isn't going all that well, though; we're crowded enough in as it is! Too much junk to get rid of, then I might be able to go adopting. ^_^;;
