Betta Tail

So lately I have noticed some damage to my betta and I don't know why, I am convinced its not fin rot but I could be wrong. The first two are when I first bought him and the last is how he is now. His dorsal fin have always been raggedy btw, just his tail I am focusing on. :)

It looks fine to me, maybe a little curling.

In person the tail is all different lengths, the curly bits on the end have gone, I really don't want to lose this betta :( from the last pic you can see clearly its different lengths

It doesn't look sick or anything though. My betta's tail lost of bit of it's 'quality' after I got him too...I attribute it to not treating his water long enough before adding new water. Just guessing though, it's slowly improving.
