Help! Rescued a King Betta!

I just got a King Betta. The poor thing has a sore on him. I talked with someone at the Petco. And they said he had been there for almost a whole year. Poor fish a whole year in a tiny nasty cup. Well anyway she gave me a discount on him. I have him in the hospital tank. Any thing I should do for him? What would help him?

Also, I got him out of the dirty cup and noticed he has a bad case of fin rot.

EDIT: I think he has a fungus, too.

EDIT2: He has white stringy stuff on his body.

Well, he is not clamped up and he is more active. He is checking out the silk plant I put in with him.

That is the problem. I don't know what to use. I was thinking some Aquarium Salt. But I don't know.

My petco has this stuff that cures a lot of problems. Go around and ask "what should I use" and you should get it. Hope your betta does fine!

Sadly my Petcos don't know what they are talking about when it comes to Betta Fish or any fish for that matter.

Aquarium salt should be good. A tsp per gallon for ten days. I believe daily water changes would help too. Bettafix can speed up recovery too.
