Black Grounhog; Bob!

His name is Bob. My husband names pretty much everything Bob. We've been seeing him around for a while now but today he was behind our condo by the creek.

We get a LOT of Leucism in our mallard ducks. Now Melanism in a ground hog. Makes me wonder what the heck is in the water around here.

Onto Bob pics!

I've never seen one before him. We usually see him in a yard about a 1/2 block from here when we drive to the train station in the mornings. I'm pretty sure he lives under their shed. Their property backs up on a park.

I wish we had better pics. He's really pretty in person. I'll keep an eye out for him. There's a den right across from us by the creek. I don't know if he'll use it but I can hope! Other groundhogs have used it. Black groundhogs are supposed to be rare. When we saw him behind the neighbors deck we went running around like the three stooges trying to grab our camera. We love animals. :P

No, definitely a ground hog. Porcupines are more hunchy and have visible spikes.

He's so cute :3 We only have prairie dogs around here.
