Question Tailbiter with Mystery Snail?

So my boy Churro decided to become a tailbiter He was fine for the first couple months when he was in divided tanks, but once I put him in the 29 gal with platies he bit about half his tail off. Long story, short he is in a 5 gal by himself. His tail is growing back very nicely.

I was wondering if I could put a mystery snail in with him. I've always liked snails, just haven't had much luck with them. Would this be an okay match? I mean is there any reason he would start tail biting again? Thanks.

Oh and since there isn't algae in the tank could I just feed the snail algae pellets?

That sounds fine to me! It might also keep him busy. Just have a back up tank incase he decides to pick on the snail or if it stresses him.

You can feed it algae wafers, and fruit and veggies too. I mostly fed mine veggies like Kale, lettuce, and carrots. They LOOOVE bananas too!

Yay I've been wanting another snail :) My last one was in with goldfish and got eaten :( this was before I knew anything about fish and had 2 goldfish in a 10 gallon YIKES! Anyway I'll be picking up a critter keeper at the same time just in case. Thanks

I don't think getting a critter keeper is necessary. From your siggy it looks like you already have a few tanks you could add him/her too if it doesn't work out. : )

True haha I've got lots of tanks! But I wanted a littler "tank" for rescues/quarentine anyway. Thanks ;)
