Help! Water changes...

I'm doing my bettas 50% water change today and I just measured the temp. and the difference between his water and the new water is approx. 2 degrees (higher than the one in the water). Can I put in the new water in? Or will it shock the fish?

If you're doing 50% water change, I will say it's ok to add it.
The difference is very minimal and although a small temp change can be stressful, it won't be too bad.
you can add 50% of the new water, wait a few minutes and then add the rest so you fish adjusts easier to the change.

That should be fine, IME-it takes at least 8-10 degrees difference in water temps to cause any temp related problems and even then it has not been any big issues with healthy fish.

Another thing, I obviously couldnt get all teh debri into the gravel vaccum, so little pieces are sort of floating around. Should I shut off the filter to let it settle or will it do it by itself?

The filter should take care of some of it and the rest should settle back in the substrate, you can't get it all and you don't want too.....
