Getting a timer for lights

I have a 10g and a 5g. Both have light plants in them. I wonder is their anything that I can buy to turn the lights off and on at certain times?

I'm pretty sure you can buy these things that you plug into your wall, and then you can plug your light into that. And that thing has a timer, and so the power will come on and off depending when you set it. We used that for our Christmas lights... I think you can get it at a hardware store or something....

You can probably buy a light timer at your LPS in the section where all the hood lights and things are... but you're probably better off buying them at a hardware store like Home Depot for the same product at a cheaper price.

I use the same as Floridabettas. It works just fine. And it's more reliable then I am. :P

These are a really good idea, I use them on all my planted tanks so that I have a fixed photoperiod and don't overlight by mistake. It also comes in handy because I tend to go out a lot at night so I'm not home when the lights need to go off. Great for short vacations too. Definitely get them from the hardware store, though--the ones at the fish store tend to be overpriced.
