fake plants

I have some fake plants in my 10g (one's without sharp points) they keep getting this brown layer of (tank crud) on them even though I clean them weekly and do about a 1/4 water change weekly. My other fake plants a fine, though they are newer.

From what your saying it sound's like a form of algea. I had the same problem in my 20 with some fake plant's. I cut the hour's of the light being on from 10 hour's a day to 5 hour's a day for a week and cleaned everything. And then it stop showing up. If your light is on for more than 10 hour's it give's algea a chance to grow. Not all algea is green..
