Smile Moving!

Well, hopefully. Keeping my fingers crossed for this stupid credit check but other than that I'll be more than likely getting my own place soon *knocks on wood*

Obviously, the bettas are coming with. I went out today and picked up baggies from petsmart to make this a bit easier on me. Is there any advice any of you could offer to make this move as safe as possible for them?

((I'm sure there's another thread for this but I'm assuming I totally missed it))

Put them in cup holders and try to know all the hazards on the road. Slow down to make the ride as smooth as possible. Bring all their stuff (duh, who wouldn't) and make them happy lol. How long is the ride? Bettas can only take 1-5 hours.

We're staying in town lol... in fact the apartments are only a few blocks away. But I know the ridiculous heat/humidity here right now can be dangerous for them as well. That's my main worry.

Make sure your car is cool before you put them in...or else the water will heat up in flash because of the heat wave.

Bag them (1/3 water 2/3 air) and put them in a clean empty cooler so its dark. Take paper or paper towel and make sure they can't see each other (so they don't get stressed). When you get to the new place set up their tanks before taking them out of the cooler (you can also use a box.. just something sturdy and dark) and re-acclimate them.

Since your only moving a few blocks I really doubt there will be much change in the water chemistry but it may be a good idea to acclimate them slowly to the new water.

Thanks so much! I'm pretty sure I have a cooler lying around somewhere. Temps in the 90's and high humidity are driving me completely bonkers over here, but i'm more worried about the fish than any of my other possessions lol

What's awesome is the apt we're trying to get is literally across the (BUSY) street from my boyfriend's parent's place, and we both work within walking distance. I'm really hoping we get approved!

lol nothing ever does, but I'm hoping that I'll at least end up with an apartment with 5 happy, not incredibly stressed-out fish. :)
