Alright thanks for answering my question, that fish actually came with the tank so beyond looking at how big he is supposed to get, what he eats and if he would get along with my fish I did not do much research on him.

and yes... he POOPS! poops are sometimes twice as long as he is! i've cut the algae wafer in half now... beastly thing!

last time i had ick... they gave me pimafix and melafix... to use in unison... both of which require the carbon filter to be removed...
but it obviously didn't work before cuz they all died... UGH

should i just take that one out??? OMG... this is truly a nightmare!

and the ammonia level is 1.0-3.0... it used to be higher...

Oh! The plecostomus is also known as a common Pleco. He might be the cause of the problem. For the Ich/Ick, my mother used Wardley's Ich Away on my Niece's tank and it had baby guppies in it and they done fine. And keep doing water changes.
