You don't need a valve if your airstone is too strong. Just tie a knot in the tubing and tighten until there's a score of teeny bubbles coming out.

Use poster board for backgrounds. It comes in a variety of colors and it is CHEAP!!!

Draw a background yourself. It is personal and cheap!
Frozen tiny bits of fish can be used as a treat!
Toy fish can be used as a exercise thing! (It works with my fish lol).

Buy a toy fish, (I used a bright orange clown fish the same size as him) Make sure it is realistic and move near the tank where he can see it. Soon he may start flaring and ta da! He is exercising! Good for when you don't have mirrors. I never tried with the fish toy in the tank but you would have to remove it or he will be stressed out.

One gallon ice cream containers are lifesavers. I used them to hold unused gravel, ornaments. Also great for a quick water change when a gravel vac isn't used.

I use unused bookshelf areas for my fish stuff lol. I use pokemon toys as ornaments around the tank1 (not IN)

If anyone want's to see a huge, nice bubble nest and some good color in your betta.

Use Indian Almond Leaf's, They will make your water have a brown tint but its what the bettas live in the wild..
They are a breeder's secret.. Thats what they say most people no about them.
