New Betta: Renji

Hi guys!

i now have a new betta, his name is Renji. he is a red veiltail. im not sure if it is a solid red. i got him a week ago after im done mourning wiht the death of Jake (in my avatar).

Renji is staying in a 10gal tank. my mollies are also in this tank. the tank is divided into two. my betta is occupying around 4gal of the tank. there are 4 molliew on the other side (you will see more mollies in this pic since i have not transferred the others).






i used a bottle that i cut into half to reduce the water movement.




So here is Renji:












if you will look closely on his tail, it looks ripped. i thought at first that he was a double tailed when i saw him at the petshop, but then i realized that he is not. there is also something on fins that doesn't look right when i got him. could you guys please check on it and see if it has any infections or something...



i am wondering why his tail looks like that. there i transparent-like film at the middle of the torn part...



im hoping to give him the most care that he deserves. hope you like my new betta!

Yup, fins are just regrowing. The deal on his fins is just his coloring, IMO.

Keep his water nice & clean & feed him a good diet & he will be good as new in no time! He is a very pretty betta!

They must have been ripped but it looks like he's recovering now, and quite well too. He's so vividly colored, really pretty! Good luckk

so that means his fins were damaged before... poor Renji. i hope he will fast.
im really glad that he seems happy in his new home (compared to his cup where he was kept before in the shop). he swims a lot, and looks at me every time i pass by. he is more active than Jake, my other betta that died recently. either jake is really that sick or just because of the diference in their personality...

can you say that he is "masked" because of his light colored face?

and how about the white colored parts on his fins between the veins (?), is that normal? is that part of his coloration?

and notice his eyes, there's a white spot amidst his red eyes. is that also normal?

i noticed that he has not blown his nest for quite a while now. im not sure why. the water is almost not moving, the temp is right (80-84 F), pH is neutral, and water changing of 50% is every other day. and he is very lively, he loves to swim around and swims up the water right after i dropped his food. he always follows me whenever i pass in front of his tank...
