Fish -and- Betta Noob

Hi OFL,

Thank you! Things are starting to make a lot more sense. I do want to use live plants as I figure that is more nature for the fish, and would make him more content.

The tank I picked out does have a filter on it. And I plan on getting a heater as well. I am now pretty clear on water changing and cycling.

Also thank you for the info on not using distilled water!

Are you familiar with plants suitable for a Betta? I do not want to overload the tank, but I would like an easily sustainable plant as plants are not my forte really.

Depending on the tank light-best plants for low light-java fern, java moss, Cryptocoryne wendtii, Anubias barteri nana, naja grass, floating plants like water lettuce are all good, they can out-grow the tank, however, with most standard light that come with tanks-they won't grow that fast.
