I currently have two.
Both boys. Multi VT and a Blue HM. My VT is the eldest at about 1.5 years. The HM was purchased about a month ago. Funny, I hadn't realized how much my VT had grown until I put the HM next to him! He's a MONSTER. Very playful. VERY territorial. I loves him.
The Blue HM was for my Preschool class. We needed a "class" pet to improve our environmental rating and since reptiles are out because of Salmonella and Birds are out for the same and Chlamydia and I just wanted another Betta! They looove him. I teach toddlers and it is just too dang adorable to watch their little eyes when I put him in their view. (I usually kept him out of reach cause, well. . . they're toddlers!)
Unfortunately (or not!) I had to take my school fish home as I had the same set-up for him I have for my VT at home and didn't once take into consideration that my classroom is usually freezing. Poor little guy. He's much warmer and happier now. As soon as I can get a good set-up with a heater, I'll be taking him back. As much as I'd like to keep him at home, the kids have already gotten attached to him.
And it gives me something to do during naptime.
I have a massive order from BettySplendens on the way. I really should stay away from that site. 4 HM's and 2CT's. All beautiful. I should get them by next Friday. (She's holding them for me until I can have everything set-up. How awesome is she???)
I'd like to say that I'll stop at 12 fish. Seems like a nice number. But I make no promises. I find a new color or pattern everyday that I MUST have.
I'm researching breeding now. No hurry. I do have a very specific goal though. Should be interesting because the fish I want to breed for was one of Victoria's "happy accidents." I asked her how it came about and she gave me the basics and then said, "I really have no idea how he happened." Should be fun!
