Question OScar's Fin rot

So I got a plastic plant for oscar and he absolutely loves it..til I seen that his fins were breaking off and had black pieaces at the end of it. He was doing fine before the plant so I took it out and was feeding him Jungle Anti-bacteria medicated fish food but he really doesn't eat it so i took another route and picked up some API aquarium salt. My question is do you just drop it in there or let it disolve in some water then add it?

Sorry i added this to the wrong place :/ dunno how to delete and move it
