Oh. I always keep water levels down a bit. Unless they are powerful pumps.

If you feel that the Alpha female is too aggressive then yes you should remove her.

There are some females that are as aggressive as males. She may just be one of them.

I have one aggressive female in my sorority, she chases the others and nips at them but nobody has actually gotten nipped, she just scares them away. Mainly when there is food involved. I don't think the others are too stressed by her, they still approach her and swim around happily.

She doesn't hurt them when food is dropped in. Oh! Nala did flare at her at feeding time, earlier today.

Edit; what is a good way to make sure one is over eating?

I push Lucy away from the food with my finger, gently, then the other girls get some. Other then that the small ones are happy to eat the shrimp pellets I drop for the corys.

Ive always been told pellets.

I have floating pellets for my bettas and sinking pellets for the corys.

Okay. I just heard flakes are better for the females in a sorority. I have always fed pellets though.
