delta's - halfmoon's?

can delta betta fish turn into halfmoon betta fish? if so, what are the chances? 35%?

I don't know where you got 35% from but generally no. Once the fish reaches adult size the tail type he has is the tail type that he will have for the rest of his life. With really young fish (2-4 months old) sometimes a Delta/SuperDelta can stretch into an HM but only if he comes from HM parents.

Halfmoons bettas are one of the hardest bettas to breed. Untill you lock in the halfmoon trait, you will get deltas. Some while 2 or 3 months old will be deltas and by the 4th or 5th month they will be halfmoons. You can breed 2 halfmoons and still get some deltas. In order to have a good chance of getting halfmoons, you need to have 4 Ray or more bettas. I have never seen a halfmoon with less than 4 rays. And what gives you a high precent is having a true halfmoon female with 8 rays, if you have a good male and that 8 Ray female then you can start locking in the halfmoon trait. Then all you have to work on color and paterns
