Exclamation Hero won't eat.

Hero, the Betta I rescued still won't eat. I had him for awhile now and nothing. He ate one bloodworm once and he hasn't ate again. I have tried two different pellets, garlic soaked pellets, bloodworms, and nothing. I really don't want to feed a Betta any Betta flakes. ):

Flakes aren't all bad, and sometimes they're required to help them. Is it better for him to slowly starve to death, or just clean the tank a bit more often? Once you get him steadily eating flakes, slip a pellet in there, too, then slowly add more pellets and less flakes. It'll take some time and patience, but eventually he should start eating pellets. I had 5 of my 11 eating flakes, and now all of my 10 remaining eat pellets. They even switched very readily.

Okay, I will try that. Thank you, CR.

Also, what if he won't eat flakes?

The only thing I can say is just keep trying to give him something everyday. Eventually he should eat.

Yes, a hungry animal will eat whatever is offered to them. In this case, flakes.

How many days have you had him, how much and how often are the water changes, what is the water temp, filter used or air stone, any live plants? except for not eating-how is he acting?
Water quality and water temp are other things that can affect appetite

If you have access to mosquito larva I would give that a try......

How many days have you had him? Give or take 3 weeks
How much and how often are the water changes? 100% water changes, I clean him out every other day.
What is the water temperature? Getting a reading, now.
Filter used or air stone? None
Any live plants? None
Except for not eating, how is he acting? He usually stays at the bottom or top of the container, and will go up for air. But he has days where he will swim around normal.

He has only eaten one blood worm in 3 weeks.....and he is a rescue..correct....Have your tried any live foods at all...sometimes the movement of live food will stimulate them, you take good care of your bettas...so I don't think it is an environment problem, how about the water temp....I am sure that is okay...but.....poor guy needs to eat so you can make him better......
