bored?

I have one female housed in a 2.5 gallon tank... she spends a lot of time sitting around or floating in one spot. At first I thought maybe she was ill... but the water testing is all good and she is eating normal. She has bursts of energy when she wants to... especially when she sees me coming close or when I open the food door. She has two live plants and a floating betta log - its a hex-shaped tank (cycled &filtered & heated). I never had a female before, so I wonder if she is bored? Would she be better off in a bigger tank with other females? I am not sure what is considered normal for females...

I have two females right now (I'm trying to set a new tank for a few more of them) but they really do about the same. The only time that they get all excited is when they see me. I think it's rather normal especially if you have checked everything (water, heat, etc.) and it's all okay. I wouldn't worry about it... if she stops eating then something is wrong.

It doesn't necessarily mean something is wrong, but all females aren't that way. Mine is in a 2.5 gallon alone, and she seems perfectly happy. But keep in mind every fish is different...
