Sunlight substituted for fluorescent light strip?

Hi all,
I recently purchased a fluorescent light strip for my aquarium. Unfortunately, the hue of the light is an ugly purple, which doesn't match my tank theme at all.

My question is, can sunlight be substituted for this? I plan on having a semi-planted tank with plants needing moderate lighting.

I doubt it. Besides that might create an algae problem.
