Well, the best deal I ever got was $10 for an Aqueon glass 10-gallon during Petco's dollar-per-gallon sale.

But I personally consider a "good" tank to be acrylic rather than glass because even though acrylic scratches easily, it reportedly retains 20% more heat than glass, is 17x stronger, and yet much lighter. Also, acrylic tanks often come in cool shapes.

I agree. Some people say glass tanks are better. Mine hasn't scratched yet.
