Talking Your favorite living plants!

Just as the title suggests, I'm looking for great ideas on what kinda of plants I should be getting for my tank to not only look great, but the kind of plants that server such great functions such as provide a cleaner habbitat for my precious companions. Let me know! Sorry for any mistakes in spelling or grammar, its 2 am! hehe Thank you (Pictures would be so nice too!)

Hornwort

I like the way it looks but more than that, it uses up ammonia really fast. And no need to bother with planting it in the substrate.

My favorite background plant is the amazon sword. It's big, full, grows fast and an overall great plant.

Any of the Anubius species, but my personal favorite is ANUBIAS FRAZERI, Tall Anubias Specie. For a picture, go to:

http://plantedaquariumscentral.com/A...-Frazeri01.htm

I have one in my 38 gal. community tank & it is AWESOME!!! It's so awesome, as a matter of fact, I just ordered another one this morning from Heather! :)

I like the looks of Hornwort, but it sheds something awful for me (shrug). Instead, I like Guppy Grass (Najas guadalupensis). Some say it is a weed that will overtake a tank, but I have some in my guppy tank & in my betta tanks & everybody seems to really enjoy swimming through it (I leave it floating for the most part).

And, of course, java fern and java moss - LOVE the stuff! Cheap & easy - what's not to love??? :)

One thing to remember with these plants, though - DO NOT plant in the substrate (they will rot). Attach to driftwood or rocks - makes it easier to move them around, too! :) :) :)

I'm not a high-tech plant person and these are plants that, so far, are working out for me in my low-tech, low-light tanks.

Wisteria. I can grow ridiculous wisteria! Java fern does really well in my 6 gallon Eclipses. Anubias does well in all my tanks. They're so pretty. I just got a Red Wendtii Crypt for Kilos tank and it's growing like mad.

I have to ask, Shinybetta, does your hornwort shed? I don't know WHY it does for me whenever I try some!!! Maybe because I have hard water?
