Betta Gills

This is more of a genectics/parents sort of question.
I have a gray betta fish who has clear gills with dark gray or black on they bottom edge.
Can I assume that one of his parents was a cellophane or had the gene?
Are cellophanes the only type of betta splendens to have clear gills?

I've seen marbles with clear beards.

My platinum dragon has a clear beard. He also has a clear butterfly band around his fins, though. I wouldn't say it's only cellophanes. Other bettas, like marbles, can have clear portions of their fins. :)

I suppose you could say they are a variation...?
Marbles can have spots and patches of colour, or no colour (Which would be cellophane)

That makes sense lol, although I have read about some people who had solid blue beta's who turned out to be marbles.

I once had a navy blue butterfly female that lost all of her colour and started to develop black spots, and was cellophane. You just never know with these fish haha. I would say he colour of the beard is as random as the colour of the fish.
