Also, what kind of thermometer are you using? A thermometer placed on the outside of the glass, or one placed awkwardly inside the tank, might have a less accurate reading than a more appropriately placed, submersible thermometer.

Yeah I will see if I can return it tommorow.I will keep it in there overnight and see if it helps any.Right now the temp is the same as it was without the heater.I think he will survive it's not like it's 60 lower to mid 70's is just going to have to work for one more night.Thanks for your help.

I have a submersible thermometer I got it a week ago I have been replacing a bit of my betta supplies lately.

I was wondering, due to my household air conditioner not working correctly right now, our house stays at an uncomfortable 88ish degrees, the tank stays about 2 days behind this(84ish). I know this is around the top parimeter of what the temp should be reaching, but its unavoidable right now, will this prolonged exposure have any adverse side effects on him?

Probably if it gets to hot the fish will get burned.I would maybe post a seprate thread asking that way everyone knows cause I am by far not as experianced as alot of people on here.Sorry I am not much of a help.
