my betta has ugly deaseas and i want to help him so much !

under his head-he has a big white hole , on that thing that he opens when he is fighting !
it looks crumbled and white...
and so big!
he doesnt eat anymore and not swim too much.

can i help him?
there is any chance he can make it ?
the water is clean ...
shuld i put salt ?

Wow, what the heck is that? Is there any way you can describe the injury in more detail or get a clearer picture?

Is the white thing his gill beard? (the thing that extends below his gill flaps when the fish flares)

Can you describe the texture of the white area, and what it looked like before this happened?

How big is the tank he is in, and how often is the water changed? Does he have any tankmates, if so, what are they? How long has it been since he stopped eating?

i cant take a better picture he is down all the time !
it is white,crumbled, looks like a hole.. dont know how to describe it better.

he has a 30 litters tank and heat.
he was ok but i havnt changed water for a while so maby its that?
or maby too much food ?
dont know...
he is alone in his tank,and hidding at his wood.
think its the quality of the water..but i have changed all the tank yesturday.

so , what to do ?????

Do you have anything to test the water parameters with? I can't imagine poor water quality causing a gaping hole in the jaw of a fish, but who knows. Maybe it was some kind of tumor? Ulcer? Parasite?

I would definitely do one 50% change a week and one 100% change a week while he's like this--30L = about 8G if I do my math correctly, so your regular water changing schedule should be one 100% water change every week--you could probably stretch this to as much as every 9 days, but it's better for you to just get into a routine of doing it a certain day every week. This way you won't forget.

Is it sticking out from under his gill flap, or is the gill flap injured and covered with white fuzz?

My first impression is that the fish injured his gill flap or his gill beard somehow, and due to poor water quality the area got infected by some kind of bacteria. If this sounds accurate, I would treat the fish with a round of API's Triple Sulfa or if you cannot find that, treat the fish with both Maracyn I and Maracyn II at the same time. Make sure that when you treat a fish with an antibiotic that you add an airstone, since antibiotic treatments can remove oxygen from the water. It would also be a good idea to treat him in a different container--I use 2 or 4 gallon plastic storage bins (rubbermaid/sterilite) that can be found at wal mart or target for about $3.

Like I said, I would treat the fish with the antibiotics I listed. You should do this in a separate container, such as a sterilite/rubbermaid plastic storage bin--these are safe to heat and easy to clean. I would treat the fish with antibiotic as soon as possible.
