Talking The big move starts tomorrow!

Well, that new apartment I've been blabbering about for months is finally mine... Well it will be at 5PM tomorrow. :) ... So expensive though! I'm just glad we're moving nearby and it's just down the street from my job. Cuts the gas bill to almost nothing. :D

I plan on going on a packing frenzy tonight... and a question came to mind.
Since I will be buying new gravel for the tanks once we get to the new place... should I just toss the old gravel tonight and take out the plants and junk now instead of later? I mean, it'd make it a TON easier for me to tear down the tanks quickly tomorrow, but do you think it would stress the fish out too much?

The moving part itself I have down. baggies, paper towel covers, coolers, the works... but any other advice is greatly appreciated!

Thanks, and I will be posting pictures of the place and my soon-to-be very angry with me fishies when I get the chance!

I would keep the old gravel. You never know if you'd be setting up another tank ;) Or even for a hospital tank. I don't think taking out plants would be too stressful. Good luck with the move!

I'd keep some of the old gravel to re-seed the bacteria onto the new gravel. =]\

Congrats on your new place and good luck with the move! =]

Thanks so much! They're smaller tanks (1-2.5 gallons) and I do frequent water changes so there's not a whole lot of bacteria to begin with... but it is probably better to keep it, huh?

Thankfully we all made it safe and sound! The apartment is great, not looking forward to setting up all the cable and internet and stuff... Not to mention all of the big furniture. The guys moved the entertainment center, and Nebraska Furniture Mart came with the couch and glider. Whew!

The fish are all alive, though evidently angry with me. Tifa and Cameron flare at me whenever I approach... I mean more than usual. And for the time being I have 4 of 5 tanks set up in the kitchen, and they seem oh so happy about it. lol

Last night was full of spilled water and stress stripes. ugh.

I've got a couple of pictures of them before the move:
The first of which is Damian in his "trance" in the evening before the move. Nothing I would do would get him to move so I freaked out a bit... I turned on his hood light and all of a sudden out he came! lol

the second is all of the fish bagged up and ready to go... The bags being together was for the picture's sake.

Anyway we're all here, nowhere near finished, I'll update as things happen!

Did the people at petsmart give those bags free or did you have to pay for them? Or are they old bags you reused? It's very good to hear that your fish made to your new place alright.
