question

if the hydro is off for two or three days in the winter will my Betta survive?

Depends on the size of the tank and whether or not the tank is cycled. If it's a tiny tank, less than two gallons, you might have a problem, since these need to be changed 100% very frequently. It would be a good idea, no matter what tank size you have, to keep a extra water in rubbermaid/sterilite plastic storage bins. These are very cheap and are safe to keep water in, and make great hospital/QT containers since they are safe to keep fish and heaters in. The best part is, these containers are only about $3-$5 a piece at Wal-Mart, Target, or similar.

Nothing below 76 degrees for an extended period of time. It can slow down their metabolism and make them susceptible to illness since it can lower their immune system.
